The strategy is to entice users with a contest, which is one of the most efficient ways to market a brand, product or service.
Suffice to say, at this point in time, most smart phone users may not be interested in scanning QR Codes if they were placed there purely for marketing purposes. However, they may be MORE interested if there was something in it for them.
