The Top Ways to Screw up Your QR Code Marketing: Part 1


Using a QR code is a good way to amp up your marketing. They allow you to give your customers more information in such a way that you do not have to spend much.

But it is very easy to make a mistake when you use QR codes in your marketing. In this series, we will be enumerating the various ways that you could screw up your QR code marketing campaigns, so that you could easily avoid these common mistakes:

1. Not testing your QR codes.

It is very important to go through several rounds of testing when it comes to marketing your QR codes. What should you test?

a. The QR code itself. Once you have generated a QR code, you should test scan it using different devices and using different QR code scanning applications.

b. Your QR code’s placement. Where you put your QR code is a very big factor as to whether your customers would be able to scan it successfully or not. You should be careful in not placing your QR codes too high or too low for them to scan it successfully.

2. Using generic black and white QR codes.

QR codes are everywhere nowadays and using the traditional black and white QR codes is fast becoming a no-no. Be sure to create a customized QR code for your marketing campaigns.

This will help you succeed by:

a. Letting you incorporate your brand’s values and characteristics and even your company’s logo.

b. Making sure that your customers know that it is safe to scan your QR code. With viruses and malware now being put behind QR codes, using a customized QR code is a good way to ensure that your QR codes are not hijacked by cybercriminals and would help you gain your customers’ trust.
