SkanzJr Brings QR Codes to Kids

Kids these days are very tech-savvy or very up-to-date when it comes to technology. They have an easier time adapting to what’s new and learning the application of the latest gadgets and computer tools. While older people are still taking time to familiarize themselves with computers, smartphones, and anything that has to do with the digital age, kids are already mastering them. Well, that is if they are given access to these gadgets. This is exactly what Skanz had in mind when it came up with the SkanzJR bandz. We have previously reported on the Skanz wristbands and how they are a great accessory for those who want a faster exchange of personal information. The Skanz QR code wristbands are a great alternative to business cards. The QR-coded social networking platform is now inviting kids aged 7 to 12 to join in the QR code craze through a kiddie version of these QR code wristbands. The SkanzJr is an interactive bracelet made of silicone and imprinted with a special quick response code that takes scanners to SkanzJr.com. To make these wristbands attractive to young people, Skanz offers them in eight different colors. Kids will need to register their trendy bracelets and they can already build their own mobile website. They can get creative and choose their own wallpaper or site background, choose their own profile icon, decide on their own Scanzsite name, list down their favorite things, and even share their favorite videos. Through their SkanzJr bandz, children get to be fashion-forward and they get access to some age-appropriate mobile fun. Skanz will also offer young users new wallpapers, icons and other features every week so they can keep updating and enhancing their Skanzsites. Skanz assures parents that there will be no need for kids to enter personally identifiable data. Moreover, parents are required to give their e-mail address during registration to make sure they’re still on top of everything their kids do online. However, the best thing about SkanzJr is that you don’t exactly need to get your kids their very own smartphone in order for them or their friends to scan the QR codes on their bracelets. They just need to enter the bracelet’s secret code on the SkanzJr.com homepage’s QR Decoder. For users with iPhone or Android smartphones, though, Skanz offers a free QR code reader app that they can get from the iPhone App Store or at the Android Market. SkanzJR bandz are available for the holiday season at SkanzJr.com and at selected toy stores, specialty gift shops, and kids’ apparel boutiques around the U.S.
