QR Code Contest Promoting Barca To Fans


It has been said before and many other advertising agencies will also agree with this – when it comes to QR Code marketing and campaigning, it is totally so important to give mobile phone users a push in the form of ‘what’s in it for them?’. 

We found this video on Youtube and thankfully, they are doing it right. 

FC Barcelona is giving away signed (much-valued) t-shirts to its fans if they:-

1. Scanned the QR Code

2. Go to the club’s website and sign-up for the contest. 

Between the two, scanning the QR Code is the shorter cut, for very obvious reasons. If you are not physically in front of the QR Code, head on over to their website on your personal computer or laptop to find it and scan it. Fans of the team are obviously taken aback but pleasantly surprised with the club’s new marketing ploy. The fans, made out of, mostly, young, working males, are known to be tech-savvy people and many of them will be sporting their latest smart phones. Hence, the QR Code campaign really fit into the clubs fan base. 

The black-and-white QR Codes can be found at ticketing counter and some bus stops, apparently. In an effort to make the QR Code even more visible to the crowd, they are printed on mobile ads and giveaway brochures which are then handed out liberally to Barca shop customers.

The promotion will be running from now till mid-September 2011, so, if you are a fan, wait no more and head over to their website to stand a chance to win the signed t-shirts. 

In another news, it was reported that some public buses in London, UK now bear a QR Code on the back of the buses. According to this picture over here, the location and size of the QR Code might be a bit of a nightmare for those interested. We strongly suggest that they make the code slightly bigger and also place it at eye level for drivers of other cars.
