Anyone who has been listening to the radio for the past few years would have heard about the notorious B.I.G and in short, most of us know more or less a little about this Brooklyn born pop star’s background. Being born in the less than ideal place in New York, B.I.G or biggie started his life selling drugs and landed himself in the block many times. And now, Fox Searchlight Pictures is ready to release the brand new movie about the life of this mega music maker.
The life and career of the notorious BIG and the controversy over the many arguments within the pop world shocked many….as with the death of an archrival, Tupac. The death of both Tupac and Biggie remains unsolved. Biggie is a celebrated rap artist who was cited as the savior of the East Coast hip-hope music scene. He was also named the greatest rapper of all times. After his murder, P.Diddy and Snoop Dogg, part of Biggie’s entourage, paid tribute to the contribution and devotion of Biggie to his work and friends. Oh, his life is far from perfect considering the fact that he started dealing drugs very early on in life.
Considering the imperfections of his life, it is not at all ironic that this iconic figure’s life is going to make it to the big screen. Fox Searchlight Pictures have started releasing marketing campaigns for the ready-to-be-released film and you can see these poster campaigns all along New York train stations, namely in New York’s 125th and Lexington in Harlem and Union Station. Along with these posters, there are QR Codes on them.
Mobile phone users who want to know more about the film, Notorious, can just scan the QR Code with their mobile phones and be led to a youtube website, http://www.youtube.com/user/FoxSearchlight, where the trailer can be viewed. There is also some extremely useful information about the film there too.
It’s great to see that more and more films are starting to promote their movies with a simple yet undeniably effective marketing method like QR Code. All people have to do is, when walking by the movie posters, scan the QR Codes and then watch the entire trailer on their mobile phones on the train.
