In the first part of this series, we have detailed how QR codes are helping hotels with their operations and marketing. It can help hotels give their guests more features and value for their money and give them a unique experience. It can also help hotels get more guests and allow people to easily reserve a room and other promotions.
3. Market research, among other things.
In Hong Kong, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel used QR codes to do some market research and amp up its social network presence. The hotel put up QR codes that diners at Cafe Causette can scan to suggest a burger variety to add to the menu and to connect on Facebook.
4. Tell people about the food.
In one of the first innovative uses of QR codes in hotels, the Radisson Edwardian used QR codes to show a video to diners and guests on how its dish of the month is prepared. The hotel chain’s e-commerce manager said that they hoped that the QR codes would be able to show people how their food is going to look like even before they order it.
5. Let your guests recommend you.
The Hyatt Hotels have put up QR codes on coasters in its restaurants, lounges and bars that allow people to download an app that they could install on their phones. The app makes it easy for people to send a digital postcard to their friends on Facebook or via e-mail.
6. Engage your guests.
The Four Seasons in Scottsdale is using QR codes on personalized welcome cards for its Club 27 Teen Center, allowing members to join a scavenger hunt. Those who finish the hunt will get a free appetizer and smoothie.
