Facebook is undoubtedly a very popular social networking site that has more than 800 million users the last time we have checked. If you are a company with an online presence, you might want to look at how mobile apps could help you market products and services even more effectively. This is even more important if your product or service is web-based, much like Facebook.
You see, Facebook has more than 100 million daily users on mobile phones using mobile apps. This statistic became clearer last week when it was reported that Facebook now has more daily users on Android than it has on iPhone.
Apparently, there is an average of 58.3 million people who use the Facebook Android app to update their status messages, check on their friends and share photos on their Facebook page. That is slightly more than the 57.4 million Facebook iPhone app users. While the story is more of a congratulatory one for Android users, it also brings out the fact that there are currently more 115.7 million people who are using their phones to update Facebook.
That represents 1/8th of the total Facebook user base. Take note that this does not include Facebook for iPad users and other platforms and operating systems. So you could imagine just how many people are using their mobile devices to get on to Facebook.
On the other hand, imagine if Facebook did not have mobile apps. That would mean that at least a portion of those more than 100 million would not be able to use their Facebook accounts as much as they want to!
This goes to show that a mobile app not only helps you market more effectively, but it also helps you reach more people who may not be able to get as much access to you otherwise. People always carry their smartphones with them, but they cannot carry their desktop computers or Internet connection everywhere!
Mobile apps can also help give you top of mind recall among your consumers!
