When planning out a QR code campaign, it is very easy to make a mistake. Some business owners do not give it much thought, which is a shame because it could cause the campaign to fail.
QR codes are very useful only if you make sure that you have everything in place. Here are some things that you need to remember if you are going to have a QR code campaign.
1. Be sure to have a mobile optimized landing page.
Remember that QR codes are scanned by smartphones. So if you are going to take people to your website, then be sure that it displays perfectly on a mobile screen. Rather than pinch and zoom to properly see your content, or scroll left to right, consumers would most likely exit a non-optimized page.
2. Be sure to track your QR codes.
You took time to create and put up your QR codes, don’t you even want to know how they are doing? How many are scanning them, who are scanning them, when are they being scanned? These are the types of information that you could get from tracking your QR codes.
Tracking and measuring your QR codes can help you know which of your QR codes are doing great. It can also help you fine tune future QR code campaigns.
3. Do you really need a QR code?
There are companies that use a QR code just because every other company is using them. Some do not plan ahead and just put up a QR code without thinking too much about what content it leads to or if it is really necessary.
Your QR codes should be well planned from the start. You need to make sure that your QR codes fit right into your campaign goals.
4. Skipping the instructions and the benefits.
With many businesses getting onto the QR code bandwagon, sometimes you think that everybody is familiar with it. So you take that for granted and just slap on a QR code without telling people what they are and what to do with them. Always err on the side of caution and put up instructions on how to scan your QR codes so that those who do not have an idea what they are will still be able to scan your codes.
Also, talk about that people are going to get if they scan your QR code. This is very important in encouraging them to take the time to take out their smartphones and scan your codes.
