For the geeks, the mere mention of the name Danica Patrick brings forth the image of the stunning woman often seen on GoDaddy.com web pages.
However, GoDaddy is merely one of the few sponsors for this race queen. Patrick is a picture of both femininity and demoniac speed. There is no stopping her whenever she is behind the wheel during one of her NASCAR races.
It is our guess that this speed queen rakes in quite a fair bit of money from all the sponsorships she has been getting of late. But that isn’t what is on our priorities list.
Danica will debut in the world’s first ever NASCAR racing car that comes with a working QR Code on the hood of the car. This will happen on October 9th during the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The race will be held at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana California.
With so many sponsors, which sponsor will the QR Code feature? Will it lead us to a mobile website featuring the gorgeous beauty? Or is it going to be just another QR Code campaign gone wrong?
Apparently, the QR Code will feature Danica Patrick’s primary sponsor which is Tissot Swiss Watches. I guess the geeks would have to lose out on this one (we were rooting for the hosting site that sponsors her, of course).
Tissot seems to be really pushing the edges of technology rather aggressively these days by launching several mobile marketing campaigns. A recent one, we heard from a blogger, sees the watch maker giving out t-shirts with a QR Code on it.
The watch brand name also promoted the MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix with an advertisement featuring a QR Code. Red Bull’s campaign was to bring on stronger support for Nicky Hayden…who won the championship in 2006.
The support and use of QR Code is quickly spreading beyond just the realm of creative folks and artists, we see. It is only a matter of time that everyone else realized how inevitable it is that QR Code technology will sweep over Americans in the next few years.
Frankly? We can’t wait to be the next Japan…as far as QR Codes is concerned.
